Dani is from both New Orleans and NYC. She completed her business degree at Tulane University, A.B. Freeman School of Business in 2006. From a very young age, Dani worked at a Spa in New Orleans; where she got her first taste of using essential oils, reiki, and yoga. She began her yoga journey in 2003 when she bought a DVD of Rodney Yee at Target. Now, at age 37, she has been practicing yoga for almost 20 years. She is a regular student of Rodney’s and he has trained Dani for many years at Yoga Shanti NYC.
Dani started formally teaching yoga after her first 200 Hour Teacher Training at YogaWorks SOHO with Jodie Rufty. Ms. Rufty then introduced Dani to Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee (owners of Yoga Shanti). Dani completed her 300 hour Teacher Training at Yoga Shanti NYC, 100 Hour Advanced Teacher Training, 50 Hour Flow Teacher Training, Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Level 1, and Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Level 2, and 100 Clinical Hours at Carerite Riverside in 2019. She is has also completed two levels of Reiki training. All of these trainings were completed at Yoga Shanti.
Dani has enormous experience teaching Yoga for people in wheelchairs at The Axis Project in Harlem NYC. Dani teaches private lessons, corporate yoga, couples' sessions, yoga for seniors, and yoga for beginners at both her private studio in the Upper West Side of Manhattan and at her clients' locations in addition to teaching at yoga studios all over NYC.Every class has a customized music therapy playlist in addition to aromatherapy and a few extras to bring her clients the feel of luxury and comfort.
Dani’s teaching style is very direct and has a knack for creating perfectly curated playlists to accompany her planned yoga sequences for every class she teaches. She also loves to incorporate humor in her lessons. Dani has taught in her own private studio, Dani Scher LLC Yoga, and has many years teaching in studios all around the NYC metropolitan area. She has also participated in teaching at many public events on behalf of Yoga Shanti and/or YogaWorks, including Bryant Park Yoga, Summer Solstice Yoga in Times Square, rooftop yoga, and special events such as teaching at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
